Arthritis and joint replacement

Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear affecting the joints of the hand, wrist and elbow.

There are many different treatments available, including steroid injections, splints and artificial joint replacement for the finger, thumb, wrist and elbow joints.

Like total hip and knee replacements, artificial joints can wear out over time and may eventually need to be revised. Your treatment options, likely recovery, benefits and alternatives will be explained carefully.

Hospital, facility, medication, dressing, splint and anaesthetist charges may be billed separately or included within a hospital self-pay package, depending on the procedure and provider. Please ask for a full estimate before treatment. Insured patients should confirm authorisation, excesses and any shortfall with their insurer.
